Raised by wolves...

This is a personal piece. It is about my friend's relationship with his mother. It's not so good currently. Hopefully things will get worked out. I'm trying something new here. That seems to be the theme... I'm trying to make my pencils look like my charcoal work. I'm happy with the way it turned out. Hopefully this will be the end of scanning giant drawings in lots of little pieces. As always, let me know what you think. :)

Cthulhu again...

Another Cthulhu piece... this one actually replaces an earlier one that I didn't like so much. Eventually I'll be posting all the original artwork as well.

Where the Magic Happens

Haha, kidding. Here's a picture of my little studio at SVA.

Painting 101

So, I'm in a back-to-basics painting class. Here are a few paintings that I've done for it. Just simple still lives and figures.

Cthulhu Continued

As the title may suggest, here are some more images from Lovecraft's "Call of Cthulhu."

Cthulhu

Here is another image from my Cthulhu series. I have two more to load, but blogger is acting funny, so I'll do it later.

Just Makin' Stuff

So, I'm working on creating a new promo piece. I'm including in it a few old pieces, but want to put brand new stuff in it also. I've been working to create some new methods to work and also trying to reach outside of my normal stuff. So this piece is somewhere in between my pencil and charcoal stuff. Also it's not the action packed stuff you're used to. I like the piece unfortunately I'm realizing that this wouldn't work with some of the other stuff I'm putting in my promo. As always, tell me what you think.

Cut You

So, this is pretty rediculous, but I drew these in illustrator and thought they were pretty neato, so I wanted to share them.

That's Quack Yo!

So my computer class has been pretty relaxed. Mostly I've just been learning better, more efficient ways to do the same things I have been doing. I've just been having fun the the work and doing the most random stuff I can think of. Somehow I've ended up with the rubber duckie visual. Don't ask. I've actually animated one of these. I'm trying to figure out how to get it small enough to stick on here as well. As always, tell me what you think! haha.

Trouble Down South

We took time in my class to focus on editorial newspaper illustration. These pieces were produced based on an article in the op-ed page of the New York Times entitled "Justice in Jena." Look up Jena, Louisiana, if you don't know the story.

Work in Progress

So, I haven't posted any art in a while so I feel the need. All of these are still being worked on, but they're on their way. Three of them are illustrations for the story "The Call of Cthulhu." The last is an illustration of a crazy dream I had last summer. Let me know what you think!

New Apt

So a lot has happen since my last post. The big new is that I have moved to Brooklyn, NY and have begun grad school at SVA. Here's just something funny. There's a typo in the stairwell of my building on the floor that I live on. I think it looks like it says ART.

Make ye WALK DE PLANK!

So these are the images from my first real illustration job. Not the illustration that I thought I would be doing but it was super fun. Questions/Comments? leave them.

Beautiful Monster

This piece is about the way beautiful people get special treatment in society. Is it because everyone is actually somewhat afraid of them? Anyway, tell me what you think.

A Different Kind of Treadmill

Treadmills can be a monotonous pain to run on. These treadmills might make it a little more interesting!

Personal Trainer

So this is about the awkward relationship that can form with a personal trainer. Often you get pretty close, share stories and get to know eachother. But what happens when there is a turn for the worse, they get a little too close, or they stop doing there job? "Breaking up" with your trainer can be an awkward experience all its own, running into them at the gym, with your new trainer. Might as well just change gyms. This was a fun piece.

Some Sketches

So here are some random sketches from the last few weeks. I'm just getting started with pen and ink so I'm working on sketching only in the medium.

Winter Running

So this is the most recent piece that I have completed. It's all about winter running and how much it sucks. I think I like it better cropped. I like the swirlies, but I think the claustrophobicness of it is better for the concept. I'll have to include swirlies in another piece.

Everyone is doing it!

I want to be part of the action. And it's always nice to have a new way to procrastinate!
